Pixel Vault Integrates Chainlink VRF to Ensure Fair, Auditable Randomization of Community Rewards

We are excited to announce that Pixel Vault—an IP development group focused on elevating crypto-native assets across a variety of mediums—has solidified their integration with Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) on the Ethereum mainnet. Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node's pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. Pixel Vault’s smart contract will only accept the random number input if it has a valid cryptographic proof, providing users verifiable proof the randomness produced has not been manipulated.


By integrating Chainlink’s industry-leading decentralized oracle network, Pixel Vault is able to fairly distribute NFT rewards to its project supporters in a way that is tamper-proof, fully auditable, and fully transparent. Not even the Pixel Vault development team can manipulate the process.

NFT projects that do not use verifiable randomness are notoriously subject to manipulation. For example, using on-chain hashes means miners can choose to publish a block only when this would generate more favorable results for themselves. In addition, off-chain APIs are opaque, requiring users to trust that the results are not manipulated by the centralized data provider for their benefit. The integration of Chainlink VRF into Pixel Vault allows for the mitigation of these issues and strategically aligns with the company’s model of continuously and fairly rewarding project holders with additional NFTs through giveaways and raffles. Additionally, Chainlink VRF is highly gas efficient, reducing the costs for acquiring a tamper-proof source of randomness.


Pixel Vault first used Chainlink VRF to begin awarding 144 MetaHero Core Collection NFTs, with 36 MetaHero Core Identities already distributed to users. These Identities are part of Pixel Vault’s MetaHero Universe, a decentralized social and gaming platform in early development stages. MetaHero Universe DAO Tokens—NFTs that allow holders to govern and help build the platform—will also be distributed using Chainlink VRF.


The integration of Chainlink VRF helped Pixel Vault guarantee a secure, verifiably random distribution of Core Identities, without special backdoor privileges. This, effectively, introduced an additional layer of gamification, meaning, and excitement to holding a MintPass. About Pixel Vault

MetaHero Identities can be minted at any time by redeeming MintPass #1, the signature NFT reservation system developed by Pixel Vault. Within this collection are the MetaHero Cores, 146 fully matched MetaHero concept characters illustrated by Chris Wahl with Creative Direction by Odious, where 144 are being given away to MintPass #1 holders and the remaining two will become MetaHero Universe ambassadors.


At the moment, focus is on MetaHero Universe DAO Tokens: Composed of nine planets and one moon, the MetaHero Universe platform will be owned by the community through ERC-1155 tokens. These tokens will allow supporters to be more than just holders: the community will actively build and govern the Universe through the United Planets DAO (UPDAO), a central DAO controlled by each of the planetary DAOs. Each planet will be its own unique interactive environment, providing revenue opportunities to the DAOs and players via land-based sales, environmental resources, wearables, gameplay, and more as governed by the community.
